Bridge Over The River Kwai

Bangkok, Thailand. The starting point for our South East Asian trip consisting of Thailand, Hong Kong, Ho Chi Minh City and Tokyo. We didn’t actually spend too much time here, it was more of our travel hub to our other destinations but we still saw some of the city and we also ventured further north by train to something I’ve wanted to do for a very long time, spend the day in an Elephant sanctuary! It happened to be right next to the River Kwai with it’s famous bridge.

The next day with the Elephants was every bit as good as I’d imagined. They were mostly old aged elephants who’ve had very tough lives either logging or being rode by tourists and have been rescued and brought here to spend the end of their lives in peace. We cooked for them, fed them and took them down to the river for a bath. It was a very special experience.
